TallyPrime (and its predecessor Tally.ERP 9) is the most widely used accounting and GST compliance software among small and mid-sized businesses in India, handling vouchers, ledgers, inventory, GST returns, and payroll. Businesses integrate Tally so that sales, purchases, and receipts from a CRM, eCommerce store, billing app, or distributor portal post automatically as vouchers, and so that ledger balances and stock are visible outside Tally. AIONDATA builds Tally integrations using Tally's HTTP XML request/response interface, custom TDL (Tally Definition Language) extensions, and scheduled sync agents that work with Tally installed on a desktop or server.

Tally and AI assistants (MCP)
Official MCP server: in preview. Tally documents a TallyPrime MCP plug-in for Claude Desktop that retrieves and analyzes company data; its help pages (Sept 18, 2026) sit behind a TallyHelp login.
Besides syncing Tally with your other systems, we can give Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot controlled access to it through an MCP server: read-only tools first, write actions with approval steps, and every call logged.

TallyPrime integration FAQs
How do you integrate with Tally when it runs on a desktop?
Tally listens on a local HTTP port (usually 9000) and accepts XML requests for importing vouchers and masters and for exporting reports and collections. We install a lightweight sync agent on the machine or server running Tally that talks to this port and securely exchanges data with the cloud system, so Tally does not need to be exposed to the internet.
Do you support both TallyPrime and Tally.ERP 9?
Yes. The XML interface is largely compatible across Tally.ERP 9 and TallyPrime, with some differences in report names and fields that we handle in the mapping. For more advanced needs, such as custom reports or validation inside Tally, we write TDL code that runs within Tally itself.
Can we connect Tally to an AI agent?
Yes. AIONDATA can build a custom MCP server that queries Tally through the XML interface, exposing party balances, outstanding invoices, stock levels, and voucher details as tools an AI agent can use. With approval rules, the agent can also create draft vouchers for your accountant to review before posting.
How do you handle GST, multiple companies, and Tally data security?
GST ledgers, tax rates, and HSN codes are mapped explicitly so imported vouchers are compliant and appear correctly in GSTR reports. Multi-company setups are supported by targeting the right company in each request, and the sync agent uses encrypted connections with credentials stored locally so Tally data stays under your control.
