Custom Application Rescue & Support

The developer left. The business did not stop.

Take control of an inherited business application. Recover source and operating knowledge, stabilize critical workflows and plan a maintainable handover.

Keep the work moving

Start with the part
your business relies on.

Business owners and IT teams responsible for an application without dependable engineering ownership.

An agency closes, a developer moves on or the original team can no longer help. The application still takes orders, schedules work or holds records that the business cannot casually replace.

01

Establish what you own

Locate source repositories, hosting, build instructions, data stores, licenses and third-party accounts. Separate available assets from missing dependencies.

02

Stabilize the critical journey

Choose the process whose failure hurts most. Reproduce it in an appropriate environment and define acceptance before changing code.

03

Create a usable handover

Document deployment, backup and recovery, monitoring, known limitations and the responsibilities needed for ongoing care.

What useful progress looks like

A booking application that can be released again.

A production fault needs a fix, but nobody can reproduce the deployed application or explain the release process.

Illustrative engagement. Scope and acceptance criteria are agreed for your environment.

  1. Match the deployed revision to available source and configuration.
  2. Reproduce and repair the agreed booking failure.
  3. Release through a documented procedure with a tested recovery path.
The acceptance checkThe agreed booking scenarios pass, the release is traceable and another authorized engineer can follow the handover.

Choose the change that earns its place

Keep, improve
or move forward.

Where AI could help

AI may help users find approved information or triage requests after permissions and application behavior are understood. Recover reliable ownership before adding another dependency.

AI is an optional improvement, assessed against a specific task and measurable outcome.

When to retain and improve

Keep the application when its behavior remains useful and source, tooling and infrastructure can support maintenance.

When to consider modernization

Plan a phased replacement when missing source, licensing barriers or obsolete dependencies prevent a maintainable recovery.

A concrete first engagement

Know what you have.
Know what comes next.

An application recovery assessment: establish ownership and access, reproduce one critical journey and identify what can be maintained.

A paid assessment with scope, access and fee agreed before work starts. You receive findings, an ownership map, prioritized options and a proposed next phase.

Discuss an assessment

Useful details to bring

  • Language/framework, if known
  • Source and hosting access
  • The business process that cannot fail

Missing details are part of the assessment. Please start with what you know about the system and the business problem.

Tell us where the work gets stuck

Bring the problem.
We’ll work through the options.

A recurring error, an integration that needs attention or an application without an owner. Tell us what is happening and what needs to work next.

We confirm delivery fit and responsibilities for your version, module and environment before proposing work. Ongoing care specifies covered systems, working hours, response targets and escalation.

Independent engineering does not extend manufacturer support or replace vendor licensing. Please do not include credentials or customer records.

Before we begin

Questions worth asking.

Can you help without source code?

We can assess the available application, data and interfaces. Some faults cannot be repaired without source or rights, and recovery may require export or replacement.

Will you rewrite it immediately?

The assessment compares recovery, targeted repairs and phased replacement against the business need. A full rewrite is not the default starting point.

AIONDATA provides independent engineering services. Product names identify the systems discussed and do not imply vendor endorsement.
