Claude
Add a remote Acumatica MCP server as a custom connector; on Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds it first, and with a per-user OAuth server each person then signs in with their own Acumatica account. MCP4Acumatica is built for Claude and supports dynamic client registration. Calls come from Anthropic’s cloud, so a private server must allowlist Anthropic’s IP ranges, and claude.ai and Claude Desktop cap tool results at about 150,000 characters, so keep generic inquiry results paged.
ChatGPT
Use developer mode (Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise and Education on the web; on Enterprise and Education an admin grants access) and add the server under ChatGPT Plugins over Streamable HTTP with OAuth. Acumatica has you register each client application on its Connected Applications form, so let the MCP server act as ChatGPT’s OAuth server and handle the Acumatica sign-in behind it. ChatGPT asks for confirmation on tools without a readOnlyHint, so mark reads read-only and let writes ask.
Microsoft Copilot Studio
Add the server with the MCP onboarding wizard on the agent’s Tools page (Streamable HTTP only; OAuth 2.0, API key or none) and turn on generative orchestration. For simple CRM steps, Acumatica’s own Power Platform connector (preview, premium) adds customer, case and opportunity actions, but each connection stores a username, password, client ID and secret and is throttled at 100 calls per minute. Power Platform data policies govern both routes.

Permissions, identity and audit
- Register the MCP server once on the Connected Applications form (SM303010) and use the authorization code flow with PKCE (Acumatica accepts S256 only), so every call runs as the signed-in person and their Acumatica roles decide what the tools can read or change.
- Gate AI access with a role and expose only reviewed generic inquiries, which carry their own access rights. MCP4Acumatica, for example, admits only users who can read a designated canary inquiry.
- Each person’s OAuth grant holds its own API session, and open API sessions count toward the license’s maximum number of API users, so size the rollout to that limit. Acumatica’s session caps (User Types, EP202500, or Users, SM201010) apply per user account, so use them on integration users such as a background agent’s.
- Acumatica documents no client credentials flow, so background agents run as a dedicated integration user with a narrow role (never an administrator), with its refresh token in a secrets manager.
- Keep write tools off until each has a preview, confirmation by a user whose role may release or approve that document, an idempotency key and an open-period check. Log the user, tool and document numbers for every call.
Hosting and network
- Acumatica SaaS runs on AWS, and every tool call goes to your instance URL over HTTPS. The MCP server can run in your AWS or Azure account, on Cloudflare Workers (MCP4Acumatica), or with a hosted provider.
- Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot Studio connect from their own clouds, so publish the server over HTTPS behind OAuth, or use ChatGPT’s Secure MCP Tunnel for a private deployment. A self-hosted Acumatica instance also needs a network path from the MCP server.
- Throttle each user below the license’s per-minute limit, page lists with $top and $skip, and use push notifications (to a webhook or SignalR hub) to refresh caches instead of polling.
- Build against a sandbox or test tenant, pin the endpoint version (Default/25.200.001 or a custom endpoint), and retest every tool after each semi-annual upgrade.
Cost and timeline
- Acumatica hasn’t published editions or pricing for its MCP support. It measures AI Assistant use in AI Units and says pricing after Managed Availability is subject to change.
- A focused read-only Acumatica MCP server, built on reviewed generic inquiries and the REST API, typically takes two to four weeks including security and evaluation.
- Write tools with approvals, workflows across Acumatica and other systems, and heavily customized tenants are scoped after a short discovery.
- MCP4Acumatica has no license fee but needs a Cloudflare Workers paid plan; CData and Unified.to offer free trials (Unified.to states 30 days). Every route calls your Acumatica instance, so check your license limits first.

Does Acumatica have an MCP server?
Not a released one. As of September 2026, Acumatica describes MCP support on its AI page and says its implementation starts from generic inquiries, but it has published no MCP server, setup documentation or registry entry. An Acumatica employee wrote in the Acumatica Community on September 1, 2026 that an official MCP is planned "not earlier than in the beginning of 2027".
Will MCP ship with Acumatica 2026 R2?
Acumatica hasn’t said so. Its preview of the October 1, 2026 launch event covers AI Assistant, AI Automation and AI Studio without mentioning MCP, and the employee’s comment points to early 2027 at the earliest. We will update this page once the 2026 R2 release notes are public.

MCP4Acumatica’s only write tool creates or updates customers and is off by default, so sales orders need a custom tool or a platform with general write access.
