We use the Xero Accounting API with OAuth 2.0, which covers contacts, invoices, payments, bills, journals, and reports, plus the Payroll and Projects APIs where relevant. Webhooks notify us of contact and invoice changes so syncs can run in near real time.
Xero applies per-tenant limits of 60 calls per minute and 5,000 calls per day, plus a concurrent-call limit. We design integrations to batch updates, use webhooks instead of polling, and queue work with back-off so large imports do not exhaust the daily quota.
